Yemen U-20 national team concludes preparations for Asian qualifiers opener against Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, Aug. 30 (YPA) – The Yemen national youth football team is set to open its campaign in the AFC U-20 Asian Cup qualifiers when it faces host nation Cambodia on Monday, competing in Group G alongside Japan and Kuwait.

Under the guidance of national head coach Mohammed Al-Nufiay, the squad conducted its training session at the Phou Therslen Stadium in the capital, Phnom Penh, focusing on technical readiness, tactical adjustments, and finalizing the match strategy. The training emphasized tactical discipline and rapid transitions between defense and attack, aiming for a positive start to strengthen Yemen’s chances of qualification.

The qualification stage features 31 national teams divided into eight groups. Group winners, along with the seven best second-placed teams, will advance to join host nation China in the final tournament.
