Iran rejects US proposals to resume nuclear negotiations

TEHRAN, Dec. 07 (YPA) – Iran announced its rejection of US proposals aimed at resuming negotiations over its nuclear program.

Fada-Hossein Maleki, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, made the statement on Saturday, confirming that Tehran “does not currently intend to enter into any negotiations,” despite receiving several US messages calling for dialogue.

Maleki attributed the decision to reject the proposals to the lack of trust in the United States and Washington’s insistence on unacceptable preconditions, most notably a “complete and absolute halt” to nuclear enrichment, which the Iranian lawmaker deemed incompatible with his country’s rights under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

The Iranian official also criticized the “double standards” in handling the nuclear file, pointing to Israel’s possession of a nuclear arsenal without being subject to international oversight.
