Iran FM condemns US attacks on Iranian commercial vessels in Gulf of Oman

TEHRAN, Sept. 06 (YPA) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Saturday strongly condemned the terrorist U.S. military attacks targeting Iranian commercial vessels in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

In a statement cited by Iran’s Tasnim news agency, the ministry said the strikes constitute violations of international law and threats to international peace and security.

The ministry said the U.S. actions were illegal and aggressive and came as part of Washington’s military aggression against Iran, naval blockade and economic warfare.

It said targeting commercial vessels constitutes a violation of Paragraph 4 of Article 2 of the UN Charter and amounts to a war crime.

The ministry reaffirmed Tehran’s determination to firmly defend its sovereignty and national interests in the face of the U.S. state terrorism and aggressive measures, including the naval blockade, economic warfare and attacks on commercial vessels.

It stressed that the United States, along with its partners and allies, would bear full responsibility for the consequences of continuing its aggressive policies and interference in the region.
