Hamas: Aid trucks entering the Gaza Strip do not meet basic needs to Gaza

GAZA, Dec. 02 (YPA) – Spokesman of Hamas movement, Hazem Qassem, confirmed on Monday that the aid trucks entering the Gaza Strip did not meet the minimum basic needs of the population at all.

Qassem explained, in statements, that most of the trucks the Israeli enemy allowed to enter are intended for the commercial sector, and carry supplementary materials that are not necessary for citizens in light of the existing humanitarian disaster.

He indicated that the field facts confirmed that the shelter centers and tents are not suitable for human living, and cannot cope with the harsh winter conditions.

Qassem stressed that what is required is the introduction of trucks carrying basic relief materials in large quantities commensurate with the scale of the crisis that more than two million people are living.

“There is an urgent need for a real change in the nature of what is allowed to enter Gaza, so that it serves the actual needs of people, especially in winter,” the Hamas spokesman clarified.

“It was previously agreed in the relief and humanitarian protocol during the January truce to introduce mobile homes (caravans), and this was reaffirmed in the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement,” he added.

Qassem called on the mediators and all concerned countries to take serious and urgent action to introduce caravans and rescue civilians before the arrival of the next air drops.

He stressed that urgent international action was needed to prevent a repeat of the tragedy of previous years, as air depressions caused major humanitarian disasters inside the shelter centers.
