Unprecedented surge in early retirement, service termination requests in Israeli army

OCCUPIED QUDS, Nov. 19 (YPA) – The Israeli military establishment is witnessing a mounting crisis in the stability of its professional personnel, with an unprecedented increase in requests for service termination and early retirement within the standing units of the occupation army.

This reflects a decline in its ability to retain experienced cadres amidst current pressures.

Official data presented before the Knesset revealed that approximately 300 officers and soldiers in permanent service submitted urgent requests to terminate their service immediately, in addition to about 600 other regular soldiers, including senior officers and experienced non-commissioned officers, who applied for early retirement during the same period.

This phenomenon is primarily attributed to the deterioration of service conditions, financial pressures, and governmental trends to reduce privileges and salaries granted to military personnel.

Under the weight of the crisis, the army command was forced to postpone the retirement of certain vital elements due to the lack of ready substitutes who could replace them amidst ongoing operational needs.

These findings reflect a clear decline in the army’s capacity to retain professional and experienced cadres at a time when pressure on human resources is escalating.
