UNIFIL: 1,030 projectiles targeted southern Lebanon in one week

BEIRUT, Aug. 29 (YPA) – The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) announced on Friday that it recorded 1,030 projectiles in southern Lebanon between August 21 and 27, averaging 147 projectiles per day.

In a post on the X platform, UNIFIL said: “Despite the lower level of violence compared with earlier this year, the situation in southern Lebanon remains fragile.”

The UN peacekeeping force noted that “the consequences of this situation continue to weigh heavily on civilians, as homes and critical infrastructure have been damaged, while local communities struggle to recover.”
