PARIS, Nov. 08 (YPA) – Four people were arrested after protesters used flares to disrupt a concert by the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra in Paris on Thursday night, the latest in a wave of anti-Israel occupation’s incidents linked to the war on Gaza.
French media reported that the concert went ahead despite widespread and repeated calls for its cancellation, which stemmed from protests against the occupation of Palestinian territories.
Calls to boycott the concert circulated within labor and cultural circles, with the General Confederation of Labour (CGT) considering the concert an attempt to normalize” the image of the occupation, accusing it of genocide against the Palestinian people.
Some attendees attempted to disrupt the concert. The use of flares (smoke bombs) was reported twice, leading to clashes inside the hall before security intervened to remove those involved.
The Philharmonie de Paris condemned the events, describing them as “serious,” and confirmed that it had filed a formal complaint with the relevant authorities.
In a related development, the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office announced the arrest of four people in connection with the incident. The concert resumed after the troublemakers were removed and concluded peacefully.
