Al-Huraizi warns against trap of conflicts in Mahra through Saudi-funded factions

MAHRA, oct. 28 (YPA) – Sheikh Ali Salem Al-Huraizi, head of the sit-in committee opposing foreign presence in Mahra province, rejected on Monday the deployment of the Saudi-funded Dera al-Watan or Homeland Shield factions in the province.

Al-Huraizi warned of the danger these factions pose to Mahra’s security, stability, and social unity.

During his meetings with leaders and members of the sit-in committee, he stated that the people of Mahra would not accept any military formations outside official state institutions.

Al-Huraizi pointed out that these factions represent a new tool for imposing a security reality alien to the governorate, and accused their leaders of attempting to drag Mahra into conflicts that are not in their best interests.

The committee’s head emphasized that Mahra would remain a safe province and reject all forms of guardianship and foreign interference, adding that the steadfast popular position has been embodied by the people of Mahra since 2017 will continue until all projects targeting national sovereignty and local decision-making are thwarted.

Al-Huraizi affirmed that the people of Mahra would maintain their principled national stance rejecting any foreign military or militia presence outside the framework of the state,” according to a post by the sit-in committee spokesman, Ali Mubarak Mahamed, on the X platform.

He called on all tribal, social, and political components to unite, adhere to the peaceful struggle, and continue efforts to protect Mahra from attempts at “militantization” and destabilization.
