Al-Humum tribesmen push UAE-backed forces out of key area in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, Oct. 04 (YPA) – Armed fighters from the Al-Humum tribes in Yemen’s oil-rich Hadramout province have forced UAE-backed Security Support Forces to withdraw from key areas in the Al-Hami and Al-Shihr districts.

Local sources reported about 180 tribal fighters, led by Sheikh Salem Mubarak Al-Gharabi Al-Humumi, mobilized with military vehicles to halt the expansion of these forces into their territory.

The tribal fighters reportedly secured control over strategic locations, including Khard and Al-Sahb, after confronting the Security Support Forces.

Tribal elders have warned the UAE-backed forces and their supporters against entering their areas, saying any further incursions would lead to widespread conflict in the region, according to the sources.

The sources confirmed that tribal fighters remain firmly positioned to secure their areas, describing  the withdrawal of the Security Support Forces as a retreat in response to the strong tribal presence east of Al-Shihr, which has prevented the them from establishing positions not only in ‘Ays Khard but across the entire eastern region.

The UAE-backed Forces had deployed in the coastal city of Al-Hami last week, after dismissing over 130 local officers and soldiers from the Al-Humum tribe.
