GAZA, Sept. 23 (YPA) – The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced on Tuesday that it had targeted an Israeli tank in the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, southwest of Gaza City, as the Israeli occupation army continued its ground advance into the neighborhood.
The Brigades said in a brief statement that its fighters targeted an Israeli Merkava tank with two Al-Yassin 105 missiles on Monday afternoon near the Al-Anbashi Hassan Mosque in the neighborhood.
The statement asserted that the operation was part of their campaign to confront the occupation army’s attempts to occupy Gaza City and displace its residents, and part of a confrontation with the war of extermination that has been ongoing for nearly two years.
Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli military vehicles penetrated hundreds of meters north of the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, starting from the vicinity of the Dahdouh Junction on Street 8 and the vicinity of the university college, amid heavy artillery and air bombardment.
