Woman, her son kidnapped, tortured to death in Shabwa

SHABWA, Sept. 13 (YPA) – Armed elements kidnapped and tortured to death an elderly woman, 67, and her 36-year-old son in Shabwa Governorate, which is under the control of UAE-backed factions.

Human rights sources in the governorate reported that the gunmen, most of whom belong to the UAE-affiliated Shabwa Defense Forces (SDF), tortured the elderly woman and her son after kidnapping and killing them last weekend in the Al-Hawtah area of ​​Mayfa’a district, on charges of practicing sorcery, amid the absence of state authorities since 2016.

They reported that approximately 10 people were involved in the kidnapping and torturing to death, most of whom were recruits in the UAE factions, ranging in age from 25 to 50, residing in the Mayfa’a and Radhum districts, without revealing any measures taken against them.

The sources indicated that some citizens transferred the bodies of the two victims, which bore signs of brutal torture, including traces of shackles on their hands and feet, to the morgue of Azzan Hospital.

The kidnapping and torture of the woman and her son to death sparked widespread anger among the people of Shabwa, who attributed the crime and other assassinations and daily blood feuds among the people of Shabwa to the systematic security chaos in the governorate, where nearly 47 brigades loyal to the UAE are deployed.
