Ministry of Health in Gaza records new 3 deaths due to starvation

GAZA, Aug. 20 (YPA) – The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced, on Wednesday, the recording of three new adult deaths in the past 24 hours due to starvation and malnutrition.

According to a statement by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the death toll from starvation in the Gaza Strip has risen to 266, including 112 children.

In this context, the 5-year-old Palestinian child, Abdullah Abu Zarqa, who went viral in a video repeating his painful phrase “I’m hungry,” died after his health deteriorated in a hospital in Turkey.

Palestinian media reported that the child’s death was a result of the severe shortage of medicines, tests, and medical equipment in Gaza and the delay in his exit for treatment.

More than one million children under the age of 18 in the Gaza Strip suffer from severe food shortages, while malnutrition threatens the lives of 40,000 infants under one year and 250,000 children under five.

For its part, the Government Media Office in Gaza accused the Israeli authorities of deliberately starving more than 100,000 children and patients and preventing the entry of meat, fish, and basic foodstuffs.
