British PM: Images of starving Gaza children are “horrific”

SCOTLAND, July 28 (YPA) – British Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the scenes of starving children in Gaza as horrific, calling for international action to achieve a ceasefire.

Starmer’s remarks came during a joint press conference with US President Trump in Scotland, where the humanitarian crisis dominated the talks.

The British prime minister emphasized that the images of children suffering from hunger and a collapsed health system require coordinated international action, emphasizing the need to mobilize countries to help achieve a ceasefire and end the humanitarian catastrophe.

However, he reiterated his political position, rejecting any role for Hamas in governing the future of Palestine.

Human rights organizations described the Western statements as a belated recognition of the scale of the disaster but emphasized that excluding Hamas would prolong the crisis rather than resolve it.

The war since October 7, 2023, has resulted in thousands of deaths and injuries, including women and children, in addition to famine and forced displacement.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced the deaths of 133 people from starvation and malnutrition, most of them children, amid Israel’s disregard for international orders to halt the war and facilitate the entry of aid.

Starmer’s statements reflect a limited shift in Western rhetoric but lack practical steps, prolonging the crisis.
