Power outages reach more than 12 continuous hours in Aden

ADEN, July 27 (YPA) – Power outages, in the coalition-controlled city of Aden, reached more than 12 continuous hours, before power was restored to residents’ homes for only two hours.

A well-informed local source confirmed that electricity generation was limited to the 90-megawatt PetroMasila and 30-megawatt Mansoura power plants, without any improvement in service.

This was due to the coalition-affiliated government’s inability to supply fuel to the remaining stations in Aden and other governorates, including Lahj, which is experiencing total darkness.

The source explained that power outages could reach about 16 continuous hours in the coming days, increasing the suffering of the city’s residents during the hot summer.

The coalition has repeatedly promised to improve electricity in Aden since the beginning of 2016, but the service has deteriorated further, with outages increasing to 11 hours, compared to 2023, when they did not exceed five hours.

The people of Aden are suffering from tragic conditions, in addition to power outages, such as water scarcity and a collapse in living standards due to the decline of the local currency against the US dollar, which has reached about 2,900 riyals.
