INGOs: Gaza’s health system destroyed, people left to die

GAZA, May 19 (YPA) –  Olga Cherevko, a spokesperson for the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, confirmed today, Monday, that there are no medical services in the Gaza Strip, and people are simply being left to die.

She explained that there is ongoing shelling of hospitals, which is causing many casualties.

She added that the past 19 months have been extremely harsh on the residents of Gaza, and that border crossings must be opened immediately.

Meanwhile, Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières) stated that the healthcare system in Gaza is destroyed and collapsed, and that patients are being transported to hospitals using animal-drawn carts or on foot.

The organization also announced that their supplies will only last a few more weeks, and they may soon be forced to suspend surgical services in the Gaza Strip.
