LONDON, May 18 (YPA) – A massive demonstration was staged on Sunday in the British capital, London, to mark the 77th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba, which quickly became a political and popular platform to hold Britain accountable for its historic and ongoing role in the suffering of the Palestinian people.
In the demonstration, over half a million people participated in the demonstration, which started at Embankment Station and proceeded through the city center and the streets of the capital.
The protesters raised slogans denouncing Britain’s role in implanting the Zionist project in Palestine. They affirmed that “the Nakba is not just a memory, but an ongoing tragedy,” and that “the occupation is a direct result of the Balfour Declaration and London’s historic support for Israel.”
The demonstrators also called for an end to the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, stressing the need to open a parliamentary investigation into the use of British weapons in crimes in Gaza.
The rally was called by a broad coalition of British organizations in solidarity with Palestine, including the Palestinian Forum in Britain, Friends of Al-Aqsa, and the Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
