“Lebanese Against Normalization” initiative launched in Beirut with participation of over 87 civil, cultural organizations

BEIRUT, Aug. 08 (YPA) – More than 87 civil society, cultural, and popular organizations launched the “Lebanese Against Normalization” initiative in Beirut to oppose normalization projects and counter efforts promoting engagement with “Israel”, amid growing Lebanese civic and popular movement rejecting normalization as a violation of national principles.

The event, held at Al-Madina Theater in Beirut, featured speeches by public figures, activists, and lawyers affirming adherence to resistance against the Israeli occupation and calling for enhanced legal prosecution of those promoting normalization. The ceremony included a visual presentation highlighting figures opposing normalization, along with interventions detailing academic opposition roles and refuting associated economic claims.

The organizers concluded the event by calling on attending parliamentarians to reject all forms of normalization with genocide and to protect the Israeli Boycott Law. The initiative coincides with a recent field survey by the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies, which revealed that 90% of Lebanese reject normalization, while 97% affirm that Israeli occupation policies threaten regional security and stability.
