Witkoff: US wants to bring the hostages home, but “Israel” is not willing to end the war

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, May 12 (YPA) – US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, recently informed the families of Israeli captives that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is obstructing the release of their loved ones by insisting on prolonging the war pointlessly, Israeli media reported

According to Israel’s Channel 12, Witkoff, told the families that the United States “wants to bring the hostages home, but “Israel” is not willing to end the war.”

Speaking during a private meeting with the hostage families, Witkoff,   reportedly said, “Israel is prolonging the war, even though we don’t see room for further progress.”

He added, that “there is a current window of opportunity, and we hope the Israeli government and all mediators will seize it.”

Channel 12 further reported that members of the hostage families’ delegation said they had never before heard such direct criticism of the Israeli government’s policy from Witkoff.
