Columbia University imposes sanctions on students supporting Palestine

WASHINGTON, 10 (YPA) – COLUMBIA University, one of America’s leading, declared disciplinary action against 65 students who participated in an on-campus protest against the attacks on Gaza.

The penalties included depriving them of submitting the end of the year and preventing the students from entering the campus, with the exception of reaching university housing, while the final year students be preventing from attending the graduation ceremony.

The students who organized a protest rally in the famous “Bater” library at the university, raised slogans against genocide and human rights violations in Gaza, on the occasion of the anniversary of the martyrdom of the Palestinian activist Basil Al-Araj, where they chanted the slogan “the martyr Basil Al -Araj”.

The university also decided to ban the entry of 33 other people who participated in the sit -in, including students from other universities and former graduates, against the backdrop of the continuous protests in support of Palestine and a rejection of the American support for the Zionist war on Gaza.
