US defense secretary cancels visit to “Israel”

WORLD, May 09 (YPA) – US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth canceled his visit to “Israel” that was scheduled for early next week, the Jerusalem Post reported, citing a source familiar with the matter.

According to the daily, Hegseth canceled the trip shortly before President Donald Trump’s expected visit to the Middle East in mid-May.

This came a day after Hebrew media outlets reported that the US president had decided to cut off communication with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, citing suspicions that the latter was manipulating him.

Israeli Army Radio correspondent Yanni Kozin wrote in a post on his X platform page: “Those around President (Donald) Trump told him that Netanyahu was manipulating him, and there’s nothing Trump hates more than being made to look like a fool, so he decided to cut off communication with him.”
