UN: What is happening in West Bank is ethnic cleansing campaign
NEW YORK, Mar. 13 (YPA) – UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese stated that what is happening in the West Bank represents an Israeli ethnic cleansing campaign, with 40,000 Palestinians displaced in a single month.
Albanese expressed her astonishment at the shocking Arab position and lack of action, calling for unified efforts to defend the Palestinians instead of focusing solely on the reconstruction of Gaza.
She emphasized that Israel’s actions in the West Bank are illegal and shameful, but not surprising, accusing some Arab countries of complicity, noting that “Israel seeks to control all of Palestine,” while Arab and international action is absent.
UN Special Rapporteur condemned the occupation’s restrictions during Ramadan, especially the ban on prayer at Al-Aqsa Mosque for those under 55, noting that Palestinians have tried every means to mobilize the world.
She indicated that countries such as South Africa and Spain have taken steps against Israeli policies, while Arab action is limited to resisting limited projects such as the Trump plan for Gaza.
