Angry protests, civil disobedience organized in Abyan

ABYAN, Feb. 10 (YPA) – Angry protest organized, on Monday, denouncing the deterioration of living conditions and the collapse of the value of the local currency in Zunjbar city, the capital of Abyan governorate, which is under the control of the coalition in southern Yemen.

The participants in the angry demonstration closed shops, set tires on fire, and blocked the city’s main streets, due to the power outage and the high prices of basic commodities, while chanting, “Oh Southerner, wake up, no more coalition.”

Local sources in the city indicated that the rise in prices of basic commodities and the collapse of public services prompted citizens to take to the streets in angry marches to demand the improvement of living conditions and the provision of basic services.

The sources explained that the protests came as a result of the continued deterioration of economic and living conditions, in light of the absence of any real solutions from the coalition government.

The protests in Zunjbar coincided with similar protests in Aden, Lahj, and Al-Dhalea, which are under the control of the coalition, expressing their discontent with the continued deterioration of the economic situation, the collapse of basic services, and the interruption of salaries.
