Pro-coalition leaders leave Aden; southern politician calls for establishing unified front

ADEN, June 24 (YPA) – A prominent southern politician confirmed Tuesday that several southern leaders loyal to the Saudi-led coalition are making arrangements to leave Aden in the coming days.

Abdulrahman al-Wali, a politician in “the Southern Movement,” said in a post on the X platform, “Southern leaders have begun arranging their affairs to live with their families abroad.” He added that these leaders have become devoted to rapid looting at the present time.

He explained that the living and service conditions in Aden and the rest of the southern governorates are severely deteriorating, stating, “People in the south are tired,” due to the continuous power outages and the rising prices of basic commodities.

Al-Wali called on what he called “honorable people” to establish a “unified southern front to put an end to the suffering of citizens,” urging free leaders to live in Aden, away from the ongoing betrayal, a reference to the Southern Transitional Council leaders who live in the UAE and claim to represent the people of the “south.”

Since 2016, Aden has been experiencing a severe economic collapse, leading to a deterioration in services and living conditions.

The local currency has significantly lost value, with the US dollar reaching 2,800 riyals without effective intervention from the coalition or the government. This deterioration was exacerbated by the relocation of the Central Bank to Aden and the printing of billions of riyals without cash cover, further exacerbating the economic crisis.
