DAMASCUS, Dec. 26 (YPA) – Russian forces have commenced the evacuation of their military base in Amuda, located within Hasakah Governorate in northeastern Syria, media reported on Thursday.
According to media sources, Russian forces have been observed moving their equipment and military vehicles from the Amuda base towards Qamishli Airport in preparation for the subsequent transfer of these forces to the Hmeimim base in Latakia.
Furthermore, it has been reported that Russian forces have withdrawn from the Hasiya area, situated south of Homs, and are now converging towards the city of Homs with the intention of regrouping at the Hmeimim base in the Latakia countryside.
It is important to note that the Russian military presence in Amuda was established in 2019. At that time, they occupied the vocational education high school building located south of the city. This deployment coincided with the initiation of Operation “Peace Spring” by Turkey and its allied factions.
