DAMASCUS, Aug. 14 (YPA) – The Syrian Observatory For Human Rights (SOHR) has documented the execution of 429 people, including women and children, in what it described as the “Al-Suwayda massacre”, noting that the killings were carried out by individuals affiliated with the Ministries of Defense and Interior of the new Syrian government
SOHR also documented the names of 28 civilians, including 12 women, who were executed by members of the Defense and Interior Ministries during the “Al-Suwayda massacre,” which broke out on July 13 and continued until the ceasefire on July 20.
The number of people executed has risen to 429, including 38 women and 14 children and elderly people. Among them were 20 medical staff members at Al-Suwayda National Hospital, who were executed by gunfire by Defense and Interior Ministry personnel, according to SOHR.
The number of fatalities documented by name in “Al-Suwayda massacre” has risen to 1,653 people since it broke out on July 13. Among the victims were 20 members of the medical staff of Al-Suwayda medical staff who were executed after an armed attack on Al-Suwayda National Hospital on July 16, 2025. The attack targeted doctors, engineers, nurses, technicians, as well as cleaning and maintenance workers, drivers, and security guards.
According to reports, the number of fatalities in armed clashes, exchange of bombardment, extrajudicial executions and Israeli airstrikes in different Syrian provinces since the beginning of military and security escalation in Al-Suwayda province on Sunday morning, July 13, has increased to 1,653.
