ABYAN, Oct. 28 (YPA) – Armed clashes erupted on Monday between Saudi-funded “Dera Al-Wattan” forces and tribal groups in Abyan province, southern Yemen.
Local sources in the province confirmed that the clashes broke out between elements of the “Third Brigade” affiliated with “Dera Al-Wattan” forces and tribal fighters from Al-Damani tribe loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in the Lawder district.
The reasons for the conflict are still unknown.
In early July, clashes erupted between factions of the Third Brigade and tribal militants from the Al Awad tribe loyal to the STC in Mudiyah district.
Recently, the “Dera Al-Wattan factions,” which are affiliated with Saudi Arabia, have set up positions in the Akad mountain region between Mudiya and Lawder, near populated areas, leading to disruptions for the women living there.
