Human rights orgs criticize MBS’s participation in European-Gulf summit

BRUSSELS, Oct. 17 (YPA) – Human rights organizations condemned the participation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) in the European-Gulf summit held in Brussels on Wednesday.

Assistant Director of the European Union Department at Human Rights Watch, Claudio Francavilla, called on European Union countries to denounce the violations that Saudi Arabia witnessed during the era of bin Salman.

“Unless EU leaders denounce his (MBS’s) abuses and secure serious commitments to human rights reforms and the release of critics in Saudi Arabia, hosting MBS will only contribute to his image-boosting campaign and embolden him to continue his repression,” Francavilla wrote on the X platform.

Francavilla also criticized the human rights files in Qatar and the UAE and called on the European Union to point out what is happening in these two countries.
