Dozens of doctors carry out strike in Shabwa

SHABWA, June 05 (YPA) – Dozens of doctors and specialists at the General Hospital for Motherhood and Childhood in the oil-rich province of Shabwa carried out on Wednesday a comprehensive strike.

In a statement, they affirmed that strikes would continue until the payment of their financial dues.

In a letter addressing the hospital administration, the doctors and specialists confirmed that the medical services in the hospital would be stopped completely until their previous salaries be paid in full, according to the contract signed with the administration.

The doctors called for setting a clear mechanism for working in the hospital so that they could return to work during the current period.

The UAE-run Khalifa Foundation” has disavowed its pledges to pay the salaries of doctors and specialists at the Maternity and Childhood Hospital in the city of Ataq, the province’s center, since last January.

The coalition-backed local authority in the province was unable to purchase a battery for the CT scan machine at the hospital, which last April stopped providing service to hundreds of people suffering from cancer and strokes.
