Shooting targets American embassy in Lebanon

BEIRUT, June 05 (YPA) – The American embassy in the Awkar area of Mount Lebanon was shot at on Wednesday, according to Lebanese media.

Lebanese media reported that a person opened fire on the embassy building in the Awkar area of Mount Lebanon while the force charged with protecting it responded.

For its part, the Lebanese Army said, “The American Embassy in Lebanon, in the Awkar area, was exposed to gunfire from a person of Syrian nationality. Army members deployed in the area responded to the sources of fire, wounding the shooter.”

The army indicated that “the perpetrator was arrested and transferred to a hospital for treatment, and follow-up is being conducted to determine the circumstances of the incident.”

The army units deployed in the vicinity of the American Embassy in Awkar are conducting an inspection of the surrounding area and are working to implement the necessary security measures to maintain the security of the area.
