Saudi Arabia imposes house arrest on Tariq Saleh, restricts travel

ADEN, Sept. 24 (YPA) – Informed political sources report that Saudi authorities have imposed strict travel restrictions on Yemeni military leader Tariq Saleh, barring him from leaving Saudi territory.

The sources indicated that Saudi officials firmly rejected a request by Saleh to travel to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to visit his family.

Saleh is currently under virtual house arrest following extensive interrogation sessions by Saudi intelligence officers regarding widespread military setbacks suffered by his forces along Yemen’s western coast.

The directives also restrict Saleh from holding meetings or establishing contacts with Western diplomats, reflecting underlying tensions between the involved parties.

Riyadh previously took an unannounced decision to relieve Saleh of his military duties and is reviewing his political standing within “the Presidential Leadership Council”, with proposals under consideration for his formal removal from the council.
