MANAMA, May 16 (YPA) – Algeria once again called on the Security Council to reconsider the membership file of the State of Palestine in order to make up for the opportunities it has missed for itself and the entire international community to do justice to the Palestinian people and realize their rights.
Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune said on Thursday, in a speech delivered on his behalf by Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf during the Arab Summit held today in Bahrain, “Our central cause is in greater need today of a united and strong Arab nation with the ranks of its supporters leading the way.”
He added, “On this basis, Algeria has worked since joining the Security Council with all honesty, loyalty, and sincerity to enable the Palestinian issue to regain its central position as the oldest issue on the agenda of our United Nations.”
The Algerian President urged intensifying pressure at the current stage to put an end to Israeli aggression, ensure the arrival of humanitarian aid, and stop the forced displacement of Palestinians.
He stressed that “Algeria fully believes that what comes after the war on Gaza should be different and completely different from what came before it.”
Tebboune welcomed the growing momentum for official recognition of the State of Palestine and the growing support enjoyed by the project for full membership in the United Nations.
He indicated in his speech that the Arab Summit is meeting today in a difficult international circumstance and a much more difficult regional circumstance, noting the impotence that befell the mechanisms of multilateral international action, led by the United Nations and its central body represented by the Security Council.
