New proposal made in Cairo regarding Gaza ceasefire

GAZA, April 08 (YPA) – A new proposal has been made in the ongoing round of negotiations in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, regarding the Gaza Strip.

Al Jazeera TV quoted sources as saying on Monday that the mediators presented a new proposal in the last round of negotiations in Cairo for a ceasefire in three stages.

The proposal included the return of unarmed displaced civilians to the northern Gaza Strip without specifying their numbers, and Tel Aviv’s acceptance of the opening of the roads of Al-Rashid and Salah al-Din Streets and the stationing of the occupation forces 500 meters away.

It also included the entry of 500 aid trucks daily into the Strip, and its north, and Tel Aviv should release of 900 Palestinian prisoners, including 100 with life sentences, in the first phase.

The proposal did not include the number of Palestinian prisoners who would be released in the second phase or the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces.
