America starts using air base in Greek for operations in Middle East

ATHENS, Oct. 23 (YPA) – The US Air Force has begun using the “Eleusina” air base on the Greek island of Crete, near the capital, Athens, to carry out operations in the Middle East.

Greek local radio sources reported on Monday that the American base on the island of Crete has already reached its maximum capacity.

According to local radio, the first large American aircraft began arriving at Elefsina Air Base, which is the main base of the 112th Combat Wing of the Greek Air Force.

The American air base on the island of Crete has reached its maximum capacity, with 30 aircraft currently stationed there, including eight aerial refueling tankers and 10 transport aircraft, in addition to several US Marines, according to the sources.
