20 “Al-Shabaab” members killed in Somalia
MOGADISHU, Sept. 02 (YPA) – The Somali National Army and its international partners announced on Saturday the killing of more than 20 members of “Al-Shabaab Movement”, including the movement’s leaders, in planned military operations.
The operations targeted senior leaders of the Al-Shabaab movement and other militants who were present in a house in Tawfiq area, Kontowari District, in Lower Shabelle Region, according to the Somali News Agency.
Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said that his country’s army targets Al-Shabaab terrorists wherever they are in the country.
Late last month, 13 members of the Somali Al-Shabaab movement were killed in an American raid.
For years, Somalia has witnessed bloody clashes between government forces and Al-Shabaab militants, which seek to control the country.
