WORLD, Aug 27 (YPA) – Based on results of molecular genetic examinations, Russia officially confirmed the death of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the chief of Wagner armed group, who was killed in a plane crash on Wednesday, in an incident that sparked speculation in the West that he was assassinated.
The private plane carrying Prigozhin and nine others crashed on Wednesday afternoon in the Tver region northwest of Moscow.
The Russian Investigative Committee said it had completed genetic examinations of the people that were killed in the recent plane crash north of Moscow, identifying all of them, including Yevgeny Prigozhin.
“As part of the investigation into the plane crash in the Tver Region, molecular genetic examinations have been completed. According to their results, the identities of all 10 victims have been established. They correspond to the list stated in the flight manifest,” the committee said in a statement.
Investigators have not yet provided any information about the causes of the crash during a flight from Moscow to St. Petersburg, nor have they given any hypothesis, whether an accident, a bomb explosion, a surface-to-air missile or a pilot’s mistake.
