HODEIDA, Aug. 14 (YPA) – Gunmen affiliated with the UAE-backed factions assaulted employees of the World Food Program (WFP) in the coastal city of Al-Khokha, south of Hodeida province, on Monday.
The gunmen stormed a center for the distribution of humanitarian aid provided by the WFP, which is supervised by the “Vision Hope International” organization, according to local sources.
The sources reported the gunmen assaulted one of the female workers, tore up some of the lists she had of the beneficiaries from the poor of the city, which is under the control of the armed factions loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, and beat several of the organization’s employees.
The reason for the attack is due to the organization’s refusal to include the names of a number of recruits in the ranks of the armed factions in the lists of those in need of humanitarian aid, the sources explained.
The incident came weeks after the assassination of the WFP director in Taiz province, Muayad Hamidi, by gunmen of the pro-coalition factions in Al-Turbah city.
