Sanaa refers 82 defendants in corruption cases to Public Prosecution

SANAA, Aug. 14 (YPA) – The Supreme National Authority for Combating Corruption (SNACC) on Monday referred 82 defendants in a number of corruption cases to the Public Funds Prosecution specialized in corruption cases.

This came in the authority’s meeting today, headed by the Head of the Authority, Judge Mujahid Ahmed Abdullah, during which it approved the results of investigation procedures and investigations into a number of corruption cases related to abuse of office to harm the interest of the state, appropriation and facilitation of appropriation of public money, tax evasion and facilitation of appropriation of state lands.

Of the 82 defendants referred in connection with these cases, three who hold high positions and the rest are occupants of senior management and financial positions of state.

The amount of damage to public money in those cases amounted to 4,061,890,000 riyals, an amount of 965,000 dollars, and an amount of 333,000 euros, as well as tax evasion by companies supplying some supplies with a total of four billion and 356 million and 490 thousand riyals.

The Authority also ordered the suspension of 45 defendants involved in the referred corruption cases from work.
