Angry protests block main streets in Aden

ADEN, Aug. 14 (YPA) – The city of Aden, controlled by the Saudi-led coalition factions in southern Yemen, witnessed on Monday angry protests denouncing the deterioration of electricity services and the insecurity and chaos sweeping the city.

According to local sources, hundreds of citizens protested in the center of Al-Mualla area and set fire to damaged tires in the middle of the main streets after the electricity was cut off, indicating that the fire closed traffic in front of citizens’ cars.

The hours of power outages in Aden increased during the past two days to nine hours a day compared to two hours, causing suffering for the people, especially the elderly and children, the sources reported.

The sources indicated that members of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions worked to disperse the protests by force of arms after clashes with the protesters.

This comes after the return of the head of the pro-coalition government, Moeen Abdulmalik, to the Ma’ashiq Palace and the storming of his residence by armed groups of the “Al-Amaliqa Brigades” factions funded by the UAE.
