Saudi Arabia intends to ban STC’s activity in Hadramout

ADEN, June 29 (YPA) – Head of the Saudi-formed Leadership Council, Rashad al-Alimi, provoked the leaders of the pro-UAE -funded Southern Transitional Council (STC) with a new appearance in Mukalla city, the provincial capital of Hadramout, eastern Yemen.

Activists on social media circulated pictures of Al-Alimi strolling Mukalla streets at night to exchange congratulations with citizens on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, as they claim.

Al-Alimi’s movements in the streets of Mukalla angered STC activists, who considered his presence at night thanks to the security achieved by the “Hadrami Elite” factions affiliated with the STC militias.

On the other hand, political sources familiar with the matter reported that “Saudi Arabia is about to ban the political activity of the STC” in Hadramout, after financing projects estimated at one billion and 200 thousand Saudi riyals.

The sources pointed out that Saudi Arabia has pushed hundreds of the so-called Dara al-Watan factions to Mukalla, under the pretext of security reinforcements to protect Al-Alimi, for the past days.

The sources indicated that Saudi Arabia seeking to extend its control over the city in the same way that the STC reinforced its factions with dozens of armored vehicles before the arrival of the STC head Aidarous Al-Zubaidi to Mukalla, to protect the meeting of General Assembly” on the 21st of May.

Al-Zubaidi’s entry to Al-Mukalla on an Emirati armored vehicle caused widespread discontent among the Hadrami community.
