Media activist taken to UAE-backed factions’ detention facility in Aden
ADEN, June 19 (YPA) – Armed elements of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions took a media activist on Sunday to one of their detention centers in the port city of Aden, which is controlled by the Saudi-led coalition.
Human rights sources said, “The director of Al-Tawahi area, Wajdi Alwan Al-Sha’bi, affiliated with the STC, directed his gunmen to arrest activist Akram Karem, after altercations between them.”
The sources added that the altercations between Karem and Al-Sha’bi came against the background of accusations against the latter of corruption cases and violations against citizens.
Many media professionals and activists have been subjected to assassinations and kidnappings in Aden, which is controlled by the pro-coalition factions, without revealing the fate of dozens of them since the beginning of 2016.
