TEHRAN, Oct. 21 (YPA) – Iran’s Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Major General Mohsen Rezaei, said Iran would not remove any quantity of enriched nuclear material from the country, no matter how small, stressing that it would remain inside Iran as a strategic asset and a national resource for the Iranian people.
Speaking during a meeting with Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir on Tuesday, Rezaei said there was domestic consensus against entering negotiations unless the United States took the initiative to build trust.
He explained that the first step must be Washington’s implementation of Iran’s conditions.
For his part, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said during his meeting with the Pakistani army chief that Washington would not be able to win Iran’s trust unless it fulfilled Iran’s seven conditions.
He noted that US President Donald Trump’s administration had violated the memorandum of understanding and escalated its threats, further deepening mistrust between the two sides.
Ghalibaf stressed that the United States had become trapped as a result of its miscalculations and its decision to wage war on Iran.
He said Washington was the party that needed to take the necessary steps to get out of this predicament, adding that US threats and military movements would not affect Iran’s strategic decisions.
Regarding border affairs, the Pakistani army chief said all problems concerning the border between Iran and Pakistan had been fully resolved and that the border crossing had reopened on Tuesday morning.
He noted that the border issues had been temporary and technical in nature.
