PM in pro-coalition “government” warns of imminent economic collapse
ADEN, June 11 (YPA) – The Prime Minister of the “government” loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, Moeen Abdulmalik, warned on Sunday for the first time of the dangers of an imminent economic collapse in the Yemeni areas under the control of the coalition.
Moeen Abdulmalik said, during an emergency meeting he held on Sunday with a number of ambassadors of countries via visual communication technology, that the state institutions are about to lose control due to the crisis economic situation of his government.
He called on those he described as “national forces” to assume their responsibilities at this critical stage in order to preserve the economic and humanitarian situation from collapse, indicating that the “prevention of oil exports” by what he described as “Houthis” was the cause of the dangerous situation the government loyal to the coalition is going through.
Moeen Abdulmalik added to the ambassadors that “all options are on the table to deal with this and that the government and the state will not stand idly by in the face of this,” in a clear threat of the possibility of a return to military escalation by the coalition forces against Sanaa.
Many observers believe that the justifications presented by Moeen Abdulmalik before the ambassadors are nothing more than the most flimsy excuses to justify the collapse of his government.
They noted that the pro-coalition government sold $13 billion worth of oil from mid-2016 to the end of 2021, according to a report issued by OPEC, which was reported by the International Institute of Journalists in July last year. However, these sums did not in any way improve the deteriorating economic situation in the areas under coalition control for several years.
