Saudi Arabia cancels Al-Alimi’s visit to Hadramout

ADEN, May 06 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia canceled on Saturday an expected visit by the head of the Riyadh-formed Presidential Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, to Hadramout province.

Southern media outlets revealed that the cancellation of the visit came as a result of disagreements between Al-Alimi and Faraj Al-Bahsani, a member of the Presidency Council representing Hadramout.

“Aden Al-Ghad” website quoted informed sources said that mediations being pushed to persuade Al-Bahsani to back down from his decision, but they have not yet reached a conclusion.

A few days ago, Al-Bahsani had set during his meeting with Sultan Al-Barakani, the head of the coalition-backed parliament, several conditions in return for allowing Al-Alimi to visit.

Al-Bahsani stipulated carrying out the economic and political reforms, apparently referring to the dismissal of the current governor of Hadramout, Mabkhout bin Madi, and the commander of the Second Military.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia was arranging for Al-Alimi’s return to Hadramout, but decided in the last hours to divert his trip to Aden, in a move revealing its fears to target Al-Alimi in Hadramout.
