Gas shortage crisis in Aden worsens residents’ suffering on first day of Eid Al-Adha

ADEN, June 06 (YPA) – Aden province and other provinces under the Saudi-led coalition’s control in southern Yemen experienced a near-total shortage of domestic gas during the first day of Eid al-Adha, forcing hundreds of citizens to wait for hours at distribution stations to no avail.

This crisis comes at a time when these provinces are suffering from continuous power and water outages, coupled with a severe heat wave with temperatures reaching over 45 degrees Celsius. This has exacerbated the suffering of the population, especially given the deteriorating living conditions.

A number of citizens expressed their dissatisfaction with the local authorities’ neglect and the lack of effective solutions. They explained that this year’s Eid was marked by harsh conditions and compounded by their lack of even the most basic services.

Gas, electricity, and water crises recur periodically in these areas, where local authorities, led by the UAE-backed Transitional Council (STC), face accusations of negligence and corruption that exacerbate humanitarian and livelihood crises amid the absence of the state and its institutions.
