SHABWA, March 16 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia on Wednesday decided to task the “Dera Al-Watan” Forces to secure the rich-oil province of Shabwa, eastern Yemen.
The Saudi journalist close to the intelligence, Ali Al-Arishi, confirmed that his country decided to hand over the security and military files of Shabwa to “ Dera Al-Watan” Forces associated with Saudi Arabia.
Over the past few days, Saudi Arabia has hosted military meetings for leaders of factions affiliated with Islah who were summoned to Riyadh, where they met with Rashad Al-Alimi, and it was agreed with them to join the so-called “ Dera Al-Watan” forces to be redeployed in Shabwa.
The Saudi move is within the framework of reducing the influence of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), which succeeded in taking control of Ataq with Emirati support.
