NEW DELHI, Feb. 18 (YPA) – The Indian authorities have asked the Yemeni embassy to cooperate in curbing the phenomenon of fraud that Yemeni patients are exposed to in India.
Yemeni sources familiar with said the Indian government sent a memorandum to the Yemeni embassy in New Delhi, inform it with the number of fraud operations registered with the Indian security services that Yemenis were subjected to, under the pretext of facilitating the access of Yemeni patients to medical services in India.
The sources pointed out that the Indian authorities had previously informed the embassy of the occurrence of many frauds of Yemeni patients, expressing their surprise at the failure of the Yemeni embassy and consulate to take any measures to protect Yemeni patients from fraud.
The sources added that the Yemeni embassy in India does not show any interest in serving Yemeni citizens coming for treatment, noting that officials of the embassy and consulate reap a lot of financial revenues as a result of the large influx of Yemeni patients to India, without carrying out any duties that are supposed to be exercised by diplomatic representations of Yemen for its citizens in India.
