Attorney General directs to release number of detainees in military prison

SANAA, Feb. 14 (YPA) – The Attorney general, Judge Dr. Muhammad Al-Dailami, on Tuesday ordered the release of a number of prisoners in the military prison in the capital’s secretariat.

During his visit to the military prison, the Attorney General directed the speedy completion of cases, strengthening coordination and integration between the prosecution and the courts with regard to issuing insolvency rulings, and opening the wide field for charitable institutions, merchants, men and philanthropists in providing assistance to the insolvent.

He listened to the prisoners’ cases, requests and complaints, the duration of their detention, the level of follow-up and progress of trial sessions, interrogation, care and accommodation.

Al-Dailami confirmed that the Public Prosecution is going to conduct field visits to corrections and prisons in the governorates to find out about the cases of prisoners, their procedures to work on everything that would act and decide on them, provide assistance to those eligible for conditional release whose cases do not pose a danger to society in accordance with the law.

He stressed the observance of controls and adherence to legal periods of detention, and prisoners to obtain their right to a fair trial, provide accommodation, health care and education, and activate rehabilitation as well as reform programs to reintegrate them into society after the expiration of their sentences.
