ABYAN, Jan. 18 (YPA) – A senior leader of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia was killed on Wednesday with his companions in a blast took part in Abyan province, south of Yemen.
Local sources said that an explosive device targeted a military vehicle carrying the leader Abdul Rahim al-Makar, with six of his escorts in Mudiyah district.
The sources stated that the terrorist elements hit al-Makar while passing through Wadi Omran.
The STC accused Al-Qaeda of being behind the assassinations of its members in the districts of Abyan, in cooperation and coordination with elements of the Islah Party in the province.
