Al-Hassani slams Saudi Arabia, describes Al-Alimi and his government as “beggars”
SANAA, Sept. 27 (YPA) – Adel Al-Hassani, a southern leader and head of the Peace Forum to Stop the War on Yemen, said the Yemeni people across the country continue to endure the effects of a comprehensive blockade that has been in place since the war began on March 26, 2015.
In an article posted on X, Al-Hassani said the blockade, which has deprived Yemen of air travel, ports, coastlines and border crossings, had turned the country into a large prison run from abroad. He added that the so-called legitimate authorities had also established themselves outside the country, in another kind of prison.
He said alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people should take priority over waging wars and destroying Yemen’s infrastructure and resources, which those parties would never be able to restore.
Referring directly to Rashad Al-Alimi, his council and his Saudi-backed government, Al-Hassani said those who had become accustomed to begging were unfit to govern a country rich in natural resources.
He questioned when they would realize that they were a major cause of the country’s suffering and that continuing on the same path would neither build a state nor protect the country.
The southern leader said sending more young Yemenis to the battlefield was further proof of their failure.
He described the so-called “legitimate” authorities as puppets who cared more about the interests of those paying their salaries and supporting their families living in capitals around the world than Yemen’s interests, while young Yemenis at home continue to shed their blood on the front lines.
Addressing Saudi Arabia and the so-called “legitimate” authorities, Al-Hassani asked: “If this war is meant to restore Yemen’s sovereignty, enable it to exploit its resources and restore the people’s dignity, why haven’t we seen any of that in Aden, Hadramout, Al-Mahra and other areas you describe as liberated?”
He also questioned how those who had failed once, twice and three times on a smaller scale, despite receiving extensive support and backing, could be expected to succeed in governing all of Yemen.
Al-Hassani concluded by calling on the so-called “legitimate” authorities to focus their efforts on providing the Yemeni people with a decent life and safeguarding the trust placed in them, for which they will be held accountable on Judgment Day.
He added that they would also be held accountable for every drop of blood shed because of their failure, corruption and dependence on foreign powers.
