Araghchi: Iran will not retreat from conditions to reopen Hormuz

TEHRAN, Sept. 28 (YPA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran’s conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz and advancing negotiations had been finalized by the Supreme National Security Council.

Speaking to Iran’s state television and IRNA, Araghchi stressed that Iran will not retreat from conditions to reopen Hormuz, which had been conveyed to mediators and subsequently passed on to the United States.

“We are waiting for the final position to be conveyed through the mediators, and we will decide based on that,” he said.

Araghchi stressed that reopening the strategic waterway remains contingent on US compliance: “Our conditions are clear, and any move towards reopening the Strait of Hormuz is contingent on these conditions being met. Only a negotiated solution can get them out of this deadlock.”

Araghchi maintained that Tehran had never closed the door to diplomacy or negotiations, while stressing that it had also never relinquished its rights.

“Whenever our enemies chose another path, we stood firmly against them on that path as well,” he said.
